Torrance is a coastal US community in southwestern Los Angeles County in the South Bay Region sharing the climate and geographical features common to the Greater Los Angeles area. Torrance has 1.5 miles of beaches on the Pacific Ocean. The city lies between the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Redondo Beach on the Santa Monica Bay. Torrance has a moderate year-round climate with warm temperatures, daily sea breezes and low humidity. Close by, a charming destination is Torrance’s historic downtown is populated with historic buildings – some fully restored to their former glory – featuring a variety of shopping, browsing, and eating locations for every taste.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Torrance, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Torrance Owners
Vivian & Steve Millet
Steve and Vivian have been in the crafting world for over fifteen years. They have owned a scrapbooking and paper crafting business. They ran a store front for thirteen years that sold materials to make a scrapbook, create that special card, or DIY projects. Their passion is teaching the latest and greatest techniques in the industry. For the last six years, they have taken their business on the road and traveled all over the US. They love seeing the excitement and enthusiasm of customers when visiting their city. Traveling was getting to be a lot! Being on the road more than twenty-eight weeks a year, they were living out of their suitcase. It was time for a change. Their cousins told them about an up and coming business that they were interested in opening and it would be great adventure for them to each open one. The excitement of reconnecting with their old customers and being part of the crafting community again was truly the motivation. Steve and Vivian are high school sweethearts. They attended her high school prom, and they’ve been together ever since. They just celebrated their 30-year anniversary. They have two beautiful daughters whom both graduated recently from University of Arizona, Kayleigh (27) and Kariene (23). The girls were raised and surrounded in the crafting world. They are excited about joining them in this next fun creative adventure.
