Ashburn is a growing city in the heart of Loudoun County, with Washington, DC to the east and the Shenandoah Mountains to the west. It is located in between the historic town of Leesburg and Dulles International Airport and has an abundance of local breweries and wineries surrounding the area, such as Solace Brewing Company, Bluemont Vineyard, and Quattro Goombas Winery. Ashburn is also part of the Dulles Technology Corridor, housing many data centers and cloud operations for Amazon Web Services and government contractors like Telos. It is home to Redskins Park, the training camp facility for the NFL’s Washington Redskins, and One Loudoun, a community of residential and entertainment opportunities.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Ashburn, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Ashburn Owner
Kelli Syms
Ed and Kelli Syms have been married for over 30 years. Ed served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. As an Air Force family, moving was the norm with every new location bringing new challenges and opportunities, so Kelli turned to arts and crafts as a constant. The day that Kelli stepped foot in Board & Brush Ashburn was the day she felt at home and like many that first visit started the obsession! A former elementary music teacher, B&b gave Kelli an outlet for her creative inspiration. This creative passion is shared with her daughter and some of their fondest memories are of them painting together at the kitchen table after dinner and later creating projects at Board & Brush. Kelli hopes that Board & Brush will provide the Ashburn community with the friendly, enjoyable, and at-home environment that she felt from the first day! Her promise is to continue bringing the Board & Brush family experience and providing an atmosphere where memories can be made.

Board & Brush Ashburn is located in the Broadlands Village Center right off the Dulles Toll Road. Parallel Wine & Whiskey, The All American Steakhouse, and Los Toltecos are restaurants within walking distance, and it’s just a quick drive to Clyde’s. The studio is across the street from Lidl and has ample amounts of parking in front.
